Complementary Courses

All Grade 7 Students will be registered in one complementary each term. The following fees will be assessed to students for these courses. These course fees cover supplies that are consumed during the course – prompt payment is greatly appreciated!

Please note that Optional Courses that include a fee MUST be paid before the first class. Students who have an outstanding balance will not be permitted to participate in the class.

Off-Campus Recreation

Students will participate in a variety of activities off-campus. Activities may include, bowling, swimming, indoor rock climbing, fencing, archery, laser tag, or river valley excursions. This option has a fee of $200. 

3D Design & Engineering Challenges

Explore the world of 3D design through hands-on building projects! From crafting paper helicopters and paperclip structures to designing robotic hands and marshmallow towers, students will use creativity and problem-solving to bring ideas to life. Projects include constructing geodesic domes with straws, testing paper airplane designs, and creating inventive Rube Goldberg machines. Perfect for curious minds who love to build, test, and improve!

This option has a fee of $15.

Art

Unleash your imagination through the exciting world of drawing and painting! In this hands-on class, you’ll explore a wide range of artistic tools and techniques—from charcoal, contouring, and cross-hatching to pointillism and textured brushwork. Dive into color as you experiment with acrylics, watercolors, and canvas painting, learning how to express yourself through bold brushstrokes, layering, and unique styles. This option has a fee of $8.

Cosmetology

Cosmetology aims to introduce various methods of skin care, hairstyling, nail care, and make-up application. Through hands-on exploration, students will practice new skills on themselves and other students in the class. This option has a fee of $10.

Film Studies

In this class, students will explore movies as a form of art and storytelling. We’ll watch a variety of films and complete written assignments and creative projects like storyboards and movie posters. Students will learn how to think critically about what they watch and what makes a great film.

Sculpting

Get ready to explore the exciting world of 3D art! In this hands-on sculpting class, students will unlock their creativity while learning to shape, carve, and construct using a variety of tools and materials. We’ll dive into projects like soapstone carving, wire sculptures, Pop Art-inspired pieces, and creative clay work. Whether you're new to art or already love to create, this class offers a fun and supportive environment to bring your ideas to life in 3D! This option has a fee of $30.

Games

Explore the exciting world of games to boost teamwork and strategic thinking! Our activities include cards, dice, and trivia games like Crazy Eights, Name That Tune, Disney Themed Trivia, Speed, Spoons, and Crib. Weather permitting, outdoor sessions will add a dynamic twist to the experience, where students will play games such as Mantracker, 4 Corners, and more. Beyond that, there will be opportunities for custom game creation and the rewarding opportunity to share your expertise by teaching younger students the joys of gameplay.  

Simple, Snacks, and Appetizers

Discover the joy of cooking in this beginner-friendly course focused on easy, delicious snacks and appetizers. Learn basic kitchen skills, explore healthy food choices, and build confidence as you prepare tasty recipes like cheese bread, quick cinnamon buns, and pizza snacks. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn. The skills you gain can support everyday living and may even lead to future opportunities in the food industry.

This option has a fee of $20.

Net Sports

Students will participate in skill development, physical literacy, and teamwork in net sports that may include volleyball, pickleball, and badminton. Weather permitting, this option may include some outdoor sessions.

Target Games

In this action-packed option, students will develop coordination and strategy while playing a variety of target-based games like Bocce, ladder golf, frisbee challenges, Bunnock, Spikeball, and more. It’s all about accuracy, teamwork, and fun competition!

Create with Comics

Dive into the colorful world of comics! Students will read and watch a variety of comics, exploring how stories are told through words and art. They'll discuss characters, themes, and styles before creating their own comics—first on paper, then using fun digital tools like Comix and Pixton. A perfect blend of creativity, storytelling, and tech!
