  • Senior Boys Capture Tiger Pride Tournament Championship!

It was an exciting start to the 2019-2020 basketball season for the Senior Boys Basketball Team as they played in and won this year’s L.C.H.S Tiger Pride Tournament, held December 13th and 14th .  Led by returning grade 9’s Jackson Bogath, Brayden Schlaht, Kayden Winslow, and tournament MVP Jackson Lascelle, the boys won their 3 games by a total of 6 points over the two day tournament.

Their first game saw the Vikings battle back from an 18 point, second-half deficit to force overtime against the Dansereau Ducks. Overtime solved nothing, and with a backed up tournament schedule, the boys were forced in to a sudden death free-throw shoot out, where Lascelle came through in the clutch after a Ducks’ miss.

Game 2 again started off slow and saw Caledonia forced to come back from yet another double digit deficit. Relentless defensive pressure and clutch free-throw shooting saw the boys squeak out a 4 point win over Covenant Christian.

The boys were then left to face off with a tough team from Stony Plain who came in to the final with confidence after knocking off our two rival Leduc schools, Leduc Junior High and West Haven in their first two games. A back and forth game saw our Vikings down by 1 with 17 seconds left. A missed shot at the rim was followed up with a rebound and put back by Braeden McIvor with 3 seconds left which sealed the victory for Caledonia.

A big thanks to all the students, parents and staff who were seen supporting the Vikings over the weekend. The boys will return to action in the New Year, eager to build on the momentum gained from the first weekend of game action.
